The Festival takes place in Derry, Northern Ireland, from Thurs 7th – Mon 11th May 2020
The Festival celebrates all kinds of musical genres, from blues, soul, swing and jive to Ska! There’s something for everyone, and of course lots of Jazz, both contemporary and traditional.
The Jazz Festival always takes place on the May Bank Holiday weekend. This year’s bank holiday has been moved back by four days to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE Day. The May bank holiday falls on Friday 8th May 2020.
The majority of events are free, however any ticketed events are highlighted in the programme, Jazz Trail listings and App. Venues look after any ticketing for their own gigs
The Jazz Festival under Derry City & Strabane District Council is committed to ensuring that events are as accessible and inclusive as possible. For more information on accessibility visit https://cityofderryjazzfestival.com/accessibility.
We have fun kid’s activities including face painting and arts & crafts, as well as a music stage and markets at Guildhall Square. There will also be extra fun events this year as part of the VE day celebrations in and around the Guildhall!
However due to licensing laws, under 18’s may not be permitted in licensed premises and it is at the discretion of the venue.
