In a one-off event for the City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival, two of London's leading saxophonists join forces to pay respect to the legendary album "Cannonball Adderley Quintet in Chicago."
For alto saxophonist/composer Tom Harrison, the art of jazz is far more than mastery of the instrument, fluency in the repertoire and respect for the tradition. For Tom, the real undertaking is to connect with that which inspired the immortals of jazz, and to cultivate it within his own work.
"Combining simplicity of melody with sophisticated detail and hints of Traneish spirituality...Harrison is one to watch" Dave Foxall, Jazz Journal
Leo Richardson is widely recognised to be one of London's leading Jazz Tenor Saxophonists, best known for his honest, straight-ahead, contemporary hard-bop style. His most significant influences include John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, Dexter Gordon, Horace Silver and Art Blakey.
“I can’t remember hearing a more impressive debut. The style is hard bop, but music as good as this is beyond category." Dave Gelly, The Observer 5*
